The UPS truck made a beep-beep-beep sound as it backed up Maude's driveway. She'd gone out to meet him and advised him that it was easier to back in than out, as her house lay at the bottom of a rather steep hill. Now she stood in sight of the driver's side-view mirror, giving expert directions with her arms. He had many obstacles to circumnavigate, from her carefully laid flower benches to the tasteful little statues, a bird-bath, and a row of little faux-torches - and she would not have a single one of them so much as touched. Neither would she allow the delivery man to park anywhere further away. "We do not have all day." She'd said to mor

Lost in Translation
Things were not going well. He'd knicked his hand on a sharp edge at the first hotel and had to swap to this one at the last minute. He had also forgotten his lucky pick, and his second set was missing a crucial tool. No, Adrian was definitely not having a smooth run of it today.
He was still jimmying the lock several minutes later, and the noise was attracting attention. A tourist -- recognisable by the wide-brimmed hat and extra large sunglasses she wore -- was staring in his direction. Adrian swore under his breath, affected a grin, and waved at her.

Today,
the train station calls to me
like an estranged lover.
"I know I hurt you,"
says the platform,
echoing underfoot
of rush-hour patrons.
"Take me back?" whines the train
As I cling to a pole
in standing room only,
my feet
a shoulder width apart.
Despite myself, I feel alive,

with forward motion.
But things can change
in an instant.
Tomorrow,
the terror will grip me,
as it often does,
because some days

Tomorrow,
I'll risk the chance

as I always do,
because I can't risk

Tomorrow being tomorrow,
I'll allow myself
to feel this joy,
but I'll guard my heart,
leaving my answer

A short story about Snow White's murder spree in space. Featuring gratuitous laser-shaped violence.
I honestly hope this still qualifies as PG-13, but I'd argue it's so over-the-top ridiculous and silly that it probably does
So, yeah, it's been a while. Wrote this one up on a whim on seeing IrrevocableFate's fairy tale contest, and was immediately inspired to write this. Inspiration was taking from the Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy (Adams is a genius), as well as that one strangely amazing Harry Potter fanfic which has Harry riding flaming comets and making love to his flaming guitar and such things.
Enjoy.
EDIT: changed the title ever so slight - sadly DA wouldn't let me write out the 7 as it went over the character limit, so I've had to solve it like this.

This was completely not what I expected to appear in the contest XD I found this absolutely hilarious. I like how Snow White's gun and the big bad wolves are trademarked. Those poor service robots though XD
